Outside the Lab
I love to dance and choreograph. In another life, in a galaxy much like ours, I was a professional contemporary dancer (before attending grad school). My dance and choreographic work has been awarded and recognized by UC Berkeley, the City of Modesto, the California State Legislature, and the United States Congress.
I also love to cook and had the privilege to study under my mom and Aunties (some of the most talented cooks I have ever had the pleasure of knowing). They imparted a love of cooking with love in me and I continue to smile at memories of kneading dough, laughing, and the sweet smells of delicious food from my childhood. Today, I love to cook my family’s recipes and create new ones to share with loved ones. Photos of cuisine from my kitchen below!
Aside from dance and cooking, I love many forms of art and movement expression. I enjoy yoga, music, musicals (and the theater in general) and reading for pleasure.
